The 21st century is an open century. It is beset with countless opportunities often dressed in challenges. Man is in constant engagement on how better to address these challenges. Little wonder changing the world as a thought pattern has become so prevalent today. From the grandest capital to the world most remote village there exist men and women in action aiming on changing the world. In business, in politics, in education etc big challenges have been confronted by enterpreneurs, political leaders, scientist and even students. Some of these efforts yielded ernomous fruits others didnt see the light of day. But changing the world could just be a little effort at solving a little problem.
Developing a vaccine for ebola or malaria will change the world and at the same time teaching kids how to read or wash hands regularly with soap and running water can also change the world. Most times we tend to concentrate on big problems whose solutions rarely comes. There are alots of small actions we can take that will go a long way in keeping our world safe.
HERE IS MY IDEA OF CHANGING THE WORLD
Our environment is getting uncomfortable for both man and animals to live. population explosion and the destructive activities of man has had adverse effects on the environment. The best effort of changing the world should be directed on making the environment greener, cleaner and safer. A clean environment is a better way to start. Wastes disposal in sub sahara Africa is far below standard. Efforts should be made by both governments and private bodies in curbing the menace of indiscriminate disposal of wastes. Sanitation policies should be made by parliaments and executed to the latter. A safe and clean environment is the greatest legacy we can leave behind for posterity. In Nigeria where I live most states in the federation set aside first saturday of each month as environmental day. This is laudable and should be encourage. As we all know a dirty environment breeds diseases. It is from a dirty slum that the next deadly virus like ebola will emerge.
HOW TO CARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
I am proposing that everyone should become an environmental caretaker. Make deliberate efforts to rid your immediate environment of dirt, clean your drainage and ensure not dumping waste in drainage's. Our toilet is the most important area if we must stay safe. Personal hygiene like hand washing, fumigation should be a daily practice to halt the spread of disease. Little efforts are usually what changes the world. Remember diseases and infections do not come from space but from a dirty environment.
